With our 33rd edition of TEFAF Maastricht 2020 opening 5-15 March 2020, we would like to update you on the measures TEFAF is taking to provide a safe environment for all exhibitors, visitors and our staff. In collaboration with our partners and the local and national health authorities we have been and will continue to closely monitor the on-going coronavirus risk.
We base our assessment that the Fair can responsibly go ahead, on our team of experts evaluation of national and local health authority guidelines, in close consultation with the Mayor of Maastricht, Annemarie Penn-te Strake who says:
The Mayor has the ultimate authority to decide if it is safe for Maastricht to host the TEFAF Fair given the current situation. The decision is based on the advice of the Dutch Health Authorities RIVM and the Security Council South Limburg. The mayor is in constant contact with these institutions. Both bodies have, at present, given no advice which would make the Mayor decide to reconsider TEFAF s Fair. The Mayor will continue to have daily consultations with the relevant health and security institutions. The Mayor will keep TEFAF posted and will share all relevant information regarding the current situation with TEFAF.
Following the Dutch health organizations advice, we are taking extra precautionary measures, such as additional all-day cleaning services and distribution and placement of hand sanitizers at the fair. Furthermore, the on-site first aid team at the MECC is taking additional advice and is in direct contact with the Maastricht university hospital.
We at TEFAF are very proud to be a global fair, represented by exhibitors from 22 countries showing 7000 year of excellence in art. We are looking forward to welcoming guests from all over the world celebrating our art community in a controlled and safe environment. We are grateful to the fair operations team for all their hard work ensuring everything remains on schedule. Finally, we would like to thank our exhibitors for their trust in TEFAF and for again bringing the most marvelous art in the world to Maastricht.
We will obviously continue to monitor the situation very carefully and issue updates on our website as the situation evolves. Please do not hesitate to contact any member of the team if you have any questions or concerns.
